Brief
on Career:
| I was working in education in Zimbabwe for many years and in both the publishing and film industry as writer and director. I was also heavily involved in community theatre that engaged with political issues of the then “Front line states”. I also produced Sunduza Dance Theatre based in Bulawayo taking the project and new theatre productions to many parts of the world and developing a new overseas base in Sheffield. In Sheffield we have helped establish a variety of education and arts projects through Southern E Media Education & Arts including SOSA-XA! Sounds of Southern Africa, Kutamba kids! And the Shifting Sands programme in schools as well as the Zambuko Izibuko Cultural crossings programme and the growing Burngreave Cultral Network.
I believe in bringing new music to new audiences and engaging people actively in creating music. Music is about a range of experiences and experiments. You create new programmes, meet new people, share new ideas. Active engagement in music brings communities together who might otherwise remain apart and is an international language speaking across continents.
